No – it is a genuine naturopathic idea, cleansing the body twice a year to support its proper functioning and the metabolism.
Unfortunately this message has been lost in a myriad of extreme diets, fads and celebrity endorsements. In claims that you can detox in 24-48 hours and in fasting diets – where obviously the weight falls off – but then what? It all goes back on again.
A genuine detox and cleansing regime should be gentle, yet effective…
IT SHOULD
* Have a simple and easy to follow diet regime, high in nutrient rich foods, including meat, fish, beans, nuts and vegetables.
* Support cleansing and clear the bowel without purging or urgent toilet visits.
* Contain liver supporting supplements as your liver is you main toxin storing organ. Without liver cleansing your detox will not be effective.
* Take around 5-10 days as this is the time your body needs to clear out and start again.
* Support a healthy level of weight loss which will stay off and be maintainable.
* Aid your metabolism.
